MOUTAI

Kweichow Moutai is the most famous of all Chinese drinks brands with a history and heritage like no other. It was first produced as “Ju Jiang Jiu”, in the town of Moutai in Guizhou Province, for the Han dynasty’s imperial family as early as 135 BC. Over the last two hundred years this distinguished Chinese baijiu, a distilled spirit that is aged for at least five years, has gained world-wide attention.

As early as 1915 it was awarded a gold medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, California. And in 1972, Moutai achieved international brand celebrity when the Chinese premier Zhou Enlai toasted US President Richard Nixon with a glass of Moutai at a banquet in the Great Hall of the People, in China’s capital Beijing.

This special and collectible spirit, made from the grain hongyingzi sorghum by distiller Kweichow Moutai, is served at all Chinese state banquets and frequently offered as a diplomatic gift to visiting dignitaries. Moutai is the classic and incomparable Chinese baijiu, vaunted for its ethereal complexity and refined power.

DMG’s Spirits of China division is proud to be the sole distributor in Australia and New Zealand of Kweichow Moutai, one of the world’s most highly sought-after luxury drinks brands.
